Hey Everyone! Shanna here from American Fork! I’m so excited to show you what I’ve made! When I was trying to decide what to do for this post I wanted something functional that I could use in my home. Ever since my third child came along 3 years ago my girls have needed something to hang their bath towels on since the standard towel bar was not enough anymore and since baby number 4 is on the way I desperately needed to figure something out. I was inspired by Shanty 2 Chic’s bathroom hooks so I made up my own version and now I have new towel hooks for my girls’ bathroom!
Let’s get started. First I gathered my supplies. I got everything for my project (minus screws and a little spray paint) from the Wood Connection!
Board (1 x 6 x 16)
Extra Large Finial
Scrabble Block (2 x 4 ½ x 4 ½)
First I had a ½” hole drilled on one side of my block for the finial to sit in. Then I sanded all my wood pieces; and painted them all white.
I wanted something that was bright fun colors to match the shower curtain and I’ve been looking for something to use my Martha Stewart Stencils on (which I also purchased from The Wood Connection) so I pulled them out and painted a design on the board with the colors I chose. Then sanded them to distress them.
After that was dry it was time to start assembling. I glued my finial into the hole I had drilled and then measured and glued the block to my board where I wanted it. After that was dry I drilled holes in through the back of the board and screwed the block in so it would be sturdy enough to hold whatever I decided to put on that little shelf.
Then I drilled a small hole through the board where I wanted my drawer pull. Since everything on my board was white or a bright color I decided that I wanted my drawer pull to be white as well so I got out the spray paint and painted it white. After it was dry I screwed it on!
