I am so happy to be back guest blogging for the Wood Connection today! I am a big fan of summer and last year I started a little tradition on my personal blog about writing down my summer bucket list. I wanted to include all the things I wanted to do during the entire summer. I knew if I made a list, then I wouldn’t forget the activities I wanted to do and it also gave me the motivation to accomplish those things! I thought it would be fun to create a craft piece that I could update each year with my list and set it out so we could see it and it would remind us of all the fun things we could do each summer!
Wood Block & Metal (available at the front counter)
First off you want to paint your pieces for the stand including the wood block. I chose fun summer colors that would stand out but also ones that would compliment colors in my house so I would happily display it.
I then painted all the tag wood pieces that I would be adding to the block. Once those were dry, I cut out some scrapbook paper and added those to one side.
Once the paint was dry on the other pieces, I sanded down the edges of everything to give it a little bit of a distressed look.
I then used some wood glue to attach the metal to one side of the board. I centered it and then held it down and let dry for about 15 minutes. The metal can be kind of tricky so make sure it is dry before you move on or else it will slip.
Once the metal piece was dry, I turned the board over and spaced out the clothes pins and added those with some wood glue as well and let them dry for about 15 minutes.
I then assembled the stand all together with wood glue.
I also added ribbon to the top piece to give it extra texture.
Finally, I cut out some more scrapbook paper and then wrote all of our favorite summer activities on the wood pieces and the individual pieces of paper for the metal side. I then added all the pieces and put it all together! You can update the scrapbook paper every year or keep the same list and add to it!
