One of my New Year’s resolutions is cleaner and healthier eating, this is a lot easier when you have your meals planned out, prepped and ready to be easily prepared. This project was a part of my goal so I could plan easier and prepare for those meals earlier in the week, I hope you can use it to benefit your family and cleaner eating as well.
I used a vertical slat sign
Hazel & Ruby Blindside Alpha Stencil Masks (available at Michael’s Craft Store)
Hazel & Ruby Crazy For Chevy Teal Fat Roll Washi Tape
Turquoise acrylic paint
Rustoleum chalkboard paint
two foam brushes
chalk or Hazel & Ruby Chalk Art Kit
Begin by painting the left side of the slat sign turquoise, allow to dry then place the stencil masks on each line with the abbreviation for each day of the week.
Next, paint over the top of the board and in the grooves with chalkboard paint. I painted three coats to be sure the turquoise wouldn’t show through. After the chalkboard paint is all dry I added the Crazy for Chevy fat roll washi around the edges to give it a little extra handmade pizzazz! “Season” the chalkboard, seasoning is when you rub chalk horizontally, vertically, and in all circles every which way across the chalk painted surface then wipe off with felt rag included in the Chalk Art Kit or with a paper towel. This helps in the future when writing on the chalk surface to ensure your letter or message won’t become a permanent element in the paint forever.
Fill in the meals on each day and display on your wall or counter for your family to see!
